I have received an Error 35, when I was:

a. Opening new company setup
b. Opening Peachtree on a network

Answer:

From the workstation getting the error, you will need to disconnect and remap the network drive.

Note: Using the chart below, locate the INI file that corresponds with the Release of Peachtree that
you have installed on your machine. Please use this INI file in the place of PAW*.INI everywhere that
PAW*.INI is mentioned in this document.

1

Select Start and Run and type in PAW*.INI and press enter.

2

Look for the [Lib] section, look for the line that reads:

DATAPATH=

3

After the DATAPATH= will be the path were your data is located. Write down this information.

4

Select Tools from the Explorer menu and choose Disconnect. Disconnect the drive where your

data is located. An example, if your DATAPATH=P:\PEACHW, then disconnect the P drive.

5

Now we will remap the drive. From Tools select Map Network Drive. Remap the drive that

contains your Peachtree company data files. Using our example above we will select drive P as

the drive letter and in the Shared Directories locate the Peachw directory.

Note:

The default data path for:

Peachtree Release 2003 - C:\Peachw

Peachtree Release 2004 and 2005 - C:\Program Files\Peachtree\Company

There are a number of things that can cause the File System Error 35 which centers around RIGHTS

and/or PERMISSIONS.

The network administrator will need to make these changes.

1

Using My Computer or Explorer, highlight the Peachw folder on the server.

Note:

Depending on your release of Peachtree your Peachw folder may be different. The default
path for:

Peachtree Release 2003 - C:\Peachw
Peachtree Release 2004 and 2005 - C:\Program Files\Peachtree
Peachtree Release 2006 - C:\Program Files\Sage Software\Peachtree

2

Select Properties from the pull down menu.

3

Make sure that the folder is not Read-only or Hidden.

4

Next, select the Sharing Tab.

5

Click on the Permissions button.

6

Add the individual users to the Peachw folder. To do this, from the Access Through Share

Permissions window, click on the Add button.

7

Click on the Show Users button.

8

Highlight each user from the Names box

9

You must give each user Full Control access. In the Type of Access: box at the bottom of the Add

Users and Groups window, click on the down arrow and select Full Control.

10

Click on the OK button when all users have been added with Full Control to take you back to the

Access Through Share Permissions window.

11

Click on the OK button to take you back to the Peachw Properties window.

12

Click on the Apply button to apply your changes.

13

Reboot your workstations and you are ready to run Peachtree Accounting.
