Rebuilding an Existing Peachtree Accounting Company

Answer
Rebuilding an Existing Peachtree Accounting Company

NOTE: This document is NOT intended to be used to rebuild an existing Peachtree company that contains data corruption.

Rebuilding an existing company involves creating a new company and using the import/export process to transfer your existing information to the new company. This procedure can be used when you want to:
  • Change the number of accounting periods per year or fiscal yearend setup.
  • Change from the cash method to the accrual method of accounting or vice versa.

Note: You cannot transfer the journal entries from a cash-based to an accrual-based company, or vice versa. The only information you can transfer are the list items, such as customers, vendors, chart of accounts, etc.
Start a new company and transfer the information from one Peachtree company to another.

Refer to the following resource materials for rebuilding your company:
  • The Import/Export chapter in your Users Guide. Look for the section on Rebuilding an Existing Peachtree Company.
  • The Help menu in your Peachtree program, search for rebuilding an existing Peachtree company.

Note: It is highly recommended that you select "Include Headings" from the Options tab in the Export section and "First Row contains Headings" from the Options tab in the Import Section when importing. This will be helpful should any trouble shooting steps require opening the export file in Excel for review.
