clock May 4, 2008 17:16 by author michael

PCO Consulting Services, Inc. has been writing custom Crystal Reports for clients since the introduction of Crystal Reports to the Peachtree Software product line in 2000. Over the years, they have developed a library of custom reports which encompass every subject from Sales Commission Calculations, Comparative Analysis Reports, Job Costing Reports, and much, much more.

Some of the more commonly requested reports can be viewed at their Crystal Reports for Peachtree website, http://www.crystalforpeachtree.com. If your needs are more specific to your business, they ask that clients complete our Custom Report Request Form (also found at our website), so that they can develop a custom reporting solution custom fit to your businesses needs.

Does your Peachtree Accounting Software lockup or freeze when you click the save button?

clock April 10, 2008 16:51 by author michael

We have heard this from some of our Peachtree Clients when saving Peachtree transactions their system hangs. The problem is caused by one maintenance record being used in thousands of transactions. Let me give you an example:

Lets say, you have a Customer that you invoice for tons of transactions. At some point you will see your system slowing down, and over time it will just stop responding when clicking the save button.

It appears that Peachtree has a problem with this. We assume it is because of the recalculating of balances and such, and at some point it just get lost. It may happen with sales invoices, applying receipts, purchases, cash disbursements or actually any type of transaction.

It may happen with any type of maintenance record item, such as customers, vendors and inventory items. So you ask, what can I do about it? Well there are a couple of work arounds.

  1. Purge your Peachtree Data
  2. Create a new ID for the maintenance record that is giving you trouble and start using that new ID.

Sometime you are just stuck, because the customer may have open transactions that need payments applied and you cannot apply them. At this point you will need to send your Peachtree data to us for our scrubbing service.

Peachtree Accounting Software running slow? Its time to purge!

clock April 9, 2008 08:11 by author michael

Why should I purge my Peachtree Data?
Because my Peachtree Software is running slow.
Does purging really make a difference?

Well here is the lowdown on purging your Peachtree Accounting Data:

Purging your Peachtree data files speeds up your processing time since there are fewer transactions to open and review. Purging transactions can really increase your system performance. If you think that each time you save a transaction the system needs to do some work by updating totals and checking if certain items already exist. How about when you generate a report, do you end up waiting? Peachtree needs to review records in the files to see if it meets your requested criteria. Reviewing thousands of records from two years ago really wastes time and money.

When you purge, you delete old transactions that are no longer used, which in turn speeds up your daily work. One major performance increase will be report generation. Waiting for a report to generate can waste a lot of time, especially when the customer is waiting on the phone or someone is waiting for an answer.

Another major reason to purge your data is to help prevent data corruption. The larger something is, the easier it is to hit. Larger files may be corrupted easier then smaller ones, so keeping your Peachtree Accounting file sizes small will help decrease the amount of problems you may have in the future.

The Peachtree Purge Wizard that is built into Peachtree Accounting really does not do a very good job of purging transactions. Our studies have shown that the Purge Wizard only removes about 20% of the eligible transactions.

MyPeachtreeData Purge Assist Service really slims down your files. We purge over 80% of the eligible transactions. That's a huge improvement and a great time saver. If you look at an average company with 20,000 detailed transactions lines times a period of 5 years you end up with 100,000 detailed transactions lines. The Peachtree Purge Wizard is only about 20% successful and will leaving you with 80,000 detailed transaction lines. Our Purge Assist Service has about a 80% success rate and can reduce the number of detailed transactions lines to just 20,000. It is easy to understand that the smaller file will function much quicker than the larger one.

The bottom line is that you should purge annually. Getting your data professionally purged will not only save you time and money but lessen the chances of database corruption. It really makes a difference!

You can purge at any time. Contact us today about our Purge Assist Service. The complete process is handled on line using our secure servers. If you wish to have your data purged over the weekend, we can accommodate that too.
