Peachtree Accounting Errors Information

Peachtree "Unable to Determine Security Privileges"

Unable to determine security privileges errors in Peachtree Accounting Software means you have damaged data files.  It has nothing to do with your current user's security setting.  Peachtree Accounting Software displays this message due to being confused because it cannot open damaged data files.  This error normally affects your two most important files, Jrnlhdr.dat and Jrnlrow.dat.  These two files are where ALL your Peachtree transactions are stored.  We have a very high success rate fixing these errors.

Peachtree General Module 4 Error

A General Module 4 error in Peachtree Accounting Software means you have damaged data files.  This error is normally associated with multiple file errors but Peachtree only shows the first error message and quits. We have a very high success rate repairing these files.

Peachtree Accounting I/O errors

An IO errors in Peachtree Accounting Software means you have damaged data files. Peachtree is having problems reading the records you requested.  Sometimes IO errors may have happened months ago, and only now, because the conditions are right; they appear.  Theses are the nasty of nasty errors, like black holes in files.  I/O errors normally affect multiple records; this is because btrieve (Peachtree's database engine) store records in blocks.  When one is records is bad, it causes a domino effect resulting in other records in the block begin damaged.  We can repair these errors but may result in missing records/transactions.  We are normally able to tell you what transactions are missing so you can reenter them.

Peachtree Accounting Error 54 or 57 while running Data Verification

This error can be fixed normally 100%.  It is very important to supply us with the DV file that was created by Peachtree Accounting prior to running Data Verification.  Because Peachtree's Data Verification process will delete any records it finds difficult to read, you might loose allot of transactions.  Error 54 and 57 are like I/O errors except the data in the record does exists, and it's record locator is just pointing to the wrong position.  Like a old library card catalog system, the cards point to the location of the book on the shelf.  DataSoft can rebuild the file with high success rates.  If you have one 54 or 57 errors you will have many more when running Peachtree's Accounting Data Verification, each one resulting in deleted transactions or maintenance records.

Unable to change Periods or Post Transactions

If everything is not 100% with transactions Peachtree Accounting you may not be able to change the periods.  Sometimes if there is a network, power, or system lockup problem, Peachtree will not write the complete information to the file.  So a part of the transaction goes into space.   You normally cannot edit or delete these transactions, sometime even finding them is impossible.  Because the transaction may only contain half the information needed or may contain strange and unrecognized characters, they will not appear in reports or lookup lists.  DataSoft can normally correct or delete these transactions.

How can I recover from these Peachtree Accounting errors?

If you don't know what you are doing? STOP!  Trying to fix these files will only damage them more and waste your time.  Before you try to restore an old backup, if this is a option, ALWAYS backup or copy the files prior to doing anything.  We cannot stress this enough.  Again backup or copy your Peachtree Accounting Company files prior to doing anything with your data.

Having your data recovered by DataSoft is easy and cost effective.  DataSoft has been repairing damaged Peachtree Accounting data files for over 19 years.  We have developed special software utilities in house to repair these files.
