Gathering my Peachtree Accounting Data

Prior to sending your data files you need to package them up. There are two different options to do this. Select one that will work for you.

Option 1 If you are able to open your company using Peachtree

Option 2 Using Microsoft's File Compression Utility Already available in Windows XP and above. Or WinZip Compression Software (WinZip is avaiable at http://www.winzip.com)

Option 1) Using Peachtree's Backup Option

If you are able to open your company in Peachtree you can perform a backup. The backup operation is located in the File Menu once the company is open. When performing the backup use the options shown below. Make sure you select your C: drive in the Save Backup Dialog box. This will make it easy for you to find the backup file when you upload it to our secure server. Remember the File Name and C: Drive and your done!

Option 2) Using Microsoft's File Compression Utility or WinZip

You will need to find where your companies data file are located, if not already known. Most the time they reside on a file server or on another desktop computer. Most systems have a mapped drive setup that contains the data subdirectory, example F: drive.

To find the location open Peachtree and Select Open Company. Below you will see the Open Company Dialog Box. Move this sliders to view all of the Directory Name. Notice in this example the DataSoft Company Data is located in C:\peachtree\ppa2006\company\datasoft.
Write down the complete directory name. You may close the Open Company Dialog Box by clicking Cancel.

Using My Computer (Start Button, My Computer) navagate to the subdirectory one above the companies data directory. See example below:

Note: If you are planning on using WinZip instead of Microsoft's Compression option. After you right click on the companies data subdirectory, select WinZip, Add to WinZip xxxx.zip. (where xxxx will be the name of your data subdirectory examples datasoft.zip)

Right click on the companies data subdirectory (this example datasoft) and select Send To, then select Compress (Zipped) Folder. The program will create a new file (located at the end of the list) named datasoft.zip. Or in your case the companies subdirectory name .zip.

This is the file you need to send to our secure servers. Write down the drive and subdirectory name. Remember it is one above your normal companies data subdirectory. Your done!
